Rita Cosby, television news anchor and correspondent, radio host, and bestselling author, will join a host of other celebrity guests, friends, and family of Kathrina’s, for a fun afternoon of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and casino table games. The afternoon will also include a silent auction featuring Kathrina’s artwork, a video from by recording artist and singer-songwriter Andrea Bocelli, and Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson supporting Kathrina, and exciting raffle prizes. All are invited to attend.
An Afternoon of Hope, Support, and Breast Cancer Awareness
Kathrina was diagnosed with breast cancer this past August, and is currently undergoing the first portion of an 18-month treatment plan. Her upbeat demeanor and can-do attitude inspire hope for a positive outcome, while encouraging other breast cancer patients, especially during Breast Cancer Awareness month.
“I have no family history of breast cancer, and am fortunate to be able to take advantage of this cutting-edge treatment. It involves five months of chemotherapy, two months of radiation, then another round of chemo treatments, but I am strong,” says Miccio. “I know I will beat this. I’m blessed to have family and friends, people like Steve Walter to help support me through this time. I’m creating this funding program Paintuspink.com for women in the arts, who are in treatment for breast cancer.
“Kathrina is an integral part of The Cutting Room family,” says Walter. “When I learned about her breast cancer diagnosis, I wanted to help. We have access to one of the top venues for live performances and fundraising events in New York City, and we’re excited to invite friends, family, fellow artists, members of the media, and anyone whose life has been touched in any way by breast cancer to come out and help us celebrate life, increase breast cancer awareness, and raise funds for Kathrina, a beloved and talented New York artist and make-up artist.”
Raising Funds through Paint Us Pink Paintuspink.com
Shortly after her diagnosis, Miccio launched Paint Us Pink, an organization devoted to helping women in the arts while in treatment for breast cancer. For now, the organization assists Miccio in covering her tremendous medical bills during treatment. In the future, Miccio will continue fundraising efforts through Paint Us Pink to assist other women in similar situations.
